Hey all, just thought we’d do some ‘xplainin’ about the gig we run on the first Saturday of every month down at Fu Bar – Liquid Recreation!

We started Liquid Recreation with Subtronix in July 2007, to bring our love of the liquid drum & bass sound to, well, everyone! For those of you less familiar with the genre delineations in drum & bass, “liquid” is the more soulful, funky, and (we think!) magical side of drum and bass. Liquid varies greatly within itself - from fun, upbeat and disco influenced tunes, to a more emotive techno-influenced “deeper” sound – and all of it is amazing!

Since 2007 Liquid Recreation has grown and grown, thanks to our fabulous DJs (including residents Jess, Emma, Riddle, Teddy Edit, and Lobo) and our commitment to creating a really fun, party-vibed night – there’s always a theme and we love to go crazy with the decorations! And for you non-Aucklanders, we’ve also recently been taking the Liquid Recreation party to other parts of New Zealand to make sure no-one misses out on the special liquid vibe! So make sure you check out this fantastic, magical night that we love and are proud to bring to the Auckland scene and beyond!

The final NZ edition of Liquid Recreation (our biggest smasher yet!) was in December 2009, after a successful 3 and a half year run. It has become time for us to spread our wings and start our overseas experience! With our recent relocation to London, we are now looking at expanding the Liquid Recreation vibe worldwide, thus searching for the perfect venue to host it over here.
